Ask Carley: Are there alternatives to a groom's cake?
Monday, June 15, 2009

Q. My groom wants a groom's cake, but I don't think we can fit it in our budget. What other ways can we compromise?

A. Work together on your cake and compromise. For a multi-layered cake, you can each choose a flavor that you like. If he's totally into chocolate with raspberry filling and you're all about coconut with cream, alternate layers of each flavor.

If he insists on having a groom's cake, consider ordering cupcakes arranged in a tier. Or let him choose the cake for the engagement party.
