
A Hill District man has been charged in connection with the shooting Wednesday evening of another man on the Reed-Robert section of the Hill District.
Robert Freeman, 19, was apprehended minutes after the shooting, reported around 7:30 p.m.
The suspect was arrested on one count each aggravated assault, reckless endangerment, carrying a firearm without a license and altering or removing the weapon's marks of identification.
The victim, a 20-year-old North Side man whose name was not released, showed up at UPMC Presbyterian with a gunshot wound to the stomach at 7:44 p.m., a county emergency dispatch supervisor said. Police said he is in stable condition.
Mr. Freeman is believed to have been one of two suspect seen running from the shooting scene.
Two males fitting the descriptions were seen a short time later walking down Centre Ave towards Crawford Street.
During a search of the two suspects, police recovered a shotgun shell from onne and a small box containing .32 caliber cartridge shells from the other.
A black semi automatic pistol was found near Centre Avenue by officers searching that area, police said.
The victim was reported in stable condition at UPMC Presbyterian with a bullet wound of the abdomen.
Police said Mr. Freeman was the shooter. No evidence was immediately available to connect the second man to the shooting.
