Where: The Landing Festival Marketplace at Geneva-on-the-Lake, Ohio.
How far: About 21/2 hours northwest (140 miles) of Pittsburgh.
What for: The first Lake Erie Wine Fest, 1-7 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
How much: $20 for an adult taster ticket, which includes a one-day admission, souvenir wine glass, tasting guide and 15 one-ounce tastes of Ohio wines. Designated driver and under-21 tickets cost $5 and include coupons for non-alcoholic beverages.
What to do: Taste wines made from grapes grown in the verdant vineyards on Lake Erie, of course. The festival also features continuous entertainment on two stages, cooking demonstrations, an amateur wine-making display, vinticulture lectures for those contemplating planting vines, and a crafters' village. Information: lakeeriewinefest.com or 1-800-518-8650.
Fun factor: 7, because where else can you sample wine from 10 wineries in one place while also looking at the water?
