Rated: PG-13.

Suitable for: 12- or 13-year-olds, particularly if they're familiar with the books.

What you should know: This is based on the third Stephenie Meyer novel about a girl smitten with a vampire, being wooed by a teen werewolf and targeted by an army of outside vampires. It stars Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner.

Language: A couple of stronger versions of darn and heck.

Sexual situations and nudity: Some passionate kisses are exchanged, and a girl volunteers that she's a virgin after her father's awkward, abbreviated attempt to raise the subject of safe sex.

Violence/scary situations: A fair amount, including vampires attacking or targeting humans, and vampires fighting other vampires or tangling with werewolves. A vampire loses his hand. A character is killed and the remains set on fire, and another suffers serious but not life-threatening injuries. A woman recounts being grabbed, attacked and left for dead decades earlier.

Drug or alcohol use: A man relaxes with what appears to be a beer. A flashback shows men drinking on a street corner in a scene that turns ugly.
