A fire broke out about 8:05 a.m. today at an apartment above Hair Design Concepts at 1947 James St., Monroeville.
The Monroeville Fire Department was able to contain the fire to a third-floor apartment. No residents were injured in the fire, but a few firefighters were treated at the scene for injuries and one was transported to a nearby hospital, Monroeville Fire Chief Brian McCollum said.
The fire occurred shortly after a utility pole in the area snapped in half, prompting three transformers to fall. It is unknown if there is a connection between the fire and the down utility pole and transformers, Chief McCollum said.
The Allegheny County fire marshal is investigating. The Red Cross is providing care to five adults who resided on the third floor.
