Tuesday, July 27, 2010

An Indiana County man was killed and his passenger critically injured when his motorcycle veered into the path of a minivan early Saturday in White Township, state police said.

Jeffrey Weber, 25, of Indiana Borough, had been riding east through a work zone on Route 286 at 12:50 a.m. when his motorcycle crossed into the oncoming lane as he rounded a bend.

The motorcycle struck a minivan driven in the opposite direction by Wendy Steiner, 36, also of Indiana, who suffered minor injuries, police said.

Her passenger, Bridget Fultz, 31, and a 1-year old baby also were not injured.

The two women immediately called 911 after the crash, police said.

Mr. Weber's passenger, Tamara Collazzo, 38, was taken to Indiana Regional Medical Center and transferred to Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center in Johnstown.

Mr. Weber was pronounced dead at the scene.
