Art Institute has new president
Wednesday, July 28, 2010

The Art Institute of Pittsburgh has named George W. Sebolt as its new president, effective this week.

Mr. Sebolt, who grew up in Sewickley and is a graduate of Quaker Valley High School, was president of The Art Institute of Washington, which grew under his tenure, including the introduction of 10 academic degree programs.

He has held several other positions at art institutes, joining the organization in 2002 at The Art Institute of Pittsburgh and serving as president of The Art Institute of California-Orange County.

He earned a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering from Grove City College and an M.B.A. from Southern Methodist University in Dallas.

Mr. Sebolt follows George Pry, who became president of The Art Institute of Pittsburgh in 1999. The institute announced in May that he would be leaving this summer.
