A resident of West Mifflin has been sentenced in federal court to 46 months in prison for his conviction for a fraudulent investment scheme.
Judge Nora Barry Fischer imposed the sentence on Charles A. Kiger, Sr., 53, according to a news release from the U.S. Attorney's office.
Mr. Kiger and another man claimed they had the ability to invest money in bank securities for an extremely high rate of return with little or no risk. As a result of their false representations, a victim was induced to invest $3 million and lost $2 million.
Prosecutors said Mr. Kiger made $933,000 from the scheme.
