A weak storm system was pushing through the mid-Atlantic this
afternoon with snow on its northern and western flank and rain on its
southeastern flank. The storm is bringing a general coating to an
inch of snow with a few exceptions, mostly on non-paved surfaces. As
the snow and slightly lower temperatures push eastward this evening,
some wet, untreated surfaces can become icy in the I-95 mid-Atlantic.
A storm over northern Mexico was pumping some rain into South Texas.
Showers had become very spotty over the Florida Peninsula in the wake
of the disturbance. Another weak feature was producing spotty snow
over part of the Intermountain West. A storm over the Pacific Ocean
was sending rain into western Washington and part of western Oregon
with some snow in the Cascades. The storm that brought rain to
California on Tuesday has pushed into the Baja California, Mexico,
area. Dry weather was holding over New England, the Great Lakes, the
interior South, the Plains and much of the Southwest.

An Extensive Winter Storm from 1994...
As heavy snow fell on part of the Northeast, ice clobbered areas from the southern mid-Atlantic to the Deep South on Feb. 8, 1994.
Boston, Mass., received 14 inches of snow with 7 inches falling on
New York City. Washington, D.C., received 3 inches of sleet from the
storm. Heavy freezing rain downed multiple trees and power lines in
portions of Alabama and Mississippi.
